Procurement – Its Own Worst Enemy? (Part Three)

By Sarah Clarke

Spurred on by an article on procurement from the Harvard Business Review, which highlighted poor communications in procurement teams both with internal and external stakeholders, I decided to write a couple of posts around some tools that can assist with communications.

Considering yesterday’s thoughts around 'Thinking Social' – I gave you a brief overview of Trello. Today, we’ll take a look at another free tool, Prezi – a tool to communicate and present your ideas in a compelling manner.

So what is Prezi?

Prezi is an innovative online presentation tool, which allows you to build your presentation as an animated journey around a single canvas, instead of a series of slides.

Firstly what are the negatives?

You can set up an account and start using Prezi instantly for free, but if you want to make your presentations private then you need to pay for a licence – it won’t break the bank though, just $59 for the year.

So why do I like it?

It’s visually stimulating, and provided you don’t go too crazy with the zoom feature and make your audience feel slightly nauseous, you’re able to present the driest of ideas in an engaging way.

It’s social - You can send it anywhere, embed it anywhere – via email, on your website, your blog (as below) and your intranet, and you can tweet about it!

So in summary, Prezi’s obviously not a procurement tool, but it is a communication tool that anyone can use and it’s a way of presenting your projects in a compelling way that might just get the attention of your stakeholders.

See Prezi in action ....

I’d be interested to hear from anyone that’s used Prezi and what your thoughts are.
